Sydney, Australia, July 1: Shree Jagannatha Consciousness ANZ successfully celebrated the first-ever Debasnana Purnima (Snana Yatra) at the newly established Jagannath Temple in Sydney, marking a historic milestone for the Jagannath community in Australia.
The celebrations began with the traditional Pahandi procession, followed by the ceremonial bathing of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and Devi Subhadra. After the sacred bathing ritual, the deities were adorned in the revered Hati (Gajanana) Besha, one of the most significant rituals observed before the annual Rath Yatra.
Hundreds of devotees from across Sydney and nearby regions participated in the celebrations, experiencing the spiritual grandeur of Puri’s centuries-old Jagannath traditions in Australia. Many devotees described the occasion as a deeply emotional and memorable experience.
Consecrated earlier this year, the Sydney Jagannath Temple continues to serve as a spiritual and cultural centre for devotees, preserving the sacred traditions of Lord Jagannath and strengthening community bonds.
Shree Jagannatha Consciousness ANZ expresses its sincere gratitude to all devotees, volunteers, priests, and supporters who contributed to the successful celebration and looks forward to welcoming the community for the upcoming Rath Yatra festivities.
