With several districts already witnessing continuous rain, authorities have urged residents to stay alert and follow official advisories as the weather system continues to strengthen.

The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC), Bhubaneswar, has placed Koraput, Nabarangpur, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Jharsuguda, Ganjam, and Gajapati under an Orange Alert, indicating the likelihood of heavy to very heavy rainfall. Balasore, Bhadrak, Mayurbhanj, Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Boudh, and a number of other districts remain under a Yellow Alert, with moderate to heavy showers expected.

The impact of the rain is already being felt across parts of the state. Waterlogged roads, slow-moving traffic, and disruptions to daily routines have been reported from several areas. As a precaution, educational institutions in some districts have been closed to ensure the safety of students and staff, while local administrations continue to monitor vulnerable locations and remain ready to respond to any emergency.

The IMD has also advised fishermen not to venture into the sea until July 6, warning of rough sea conditions and strong winds along the Odisha coast. Coastal residents have been asked to exercise caution and avoid unnecessary travel in areas prone to flooding or adverse weather.

While the rainfall has brought much-needed relief from the recent spell of intense heat, officials caution that continued heavy showers could lead to waterlogging, localized flooding, and travel disruptions in low-lying areas.

As the weather system remains active, residents are encouraged to stay informed through official IMD updates and follow instructions issued by local authorities. Early preparedness and timely action will be crucial in minimizing the impact of the ongoing monsoon conditions.
