26th November 2024: In an effort to improve the quality of life for Bhubaneswar residents, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has approved several new projects. During a meeting chaired by Mayor Sulochana Das, BMC decided to install solar-powered water kiosks on major streets to provide free access to clean drinking water.

Additionally, permanent sheds will be built at busy traffic spots like AG Square and Kalinga Hospital Square, offering pedestrians shelter from rain and sun. These sheds will also feature solar-powered lights.

To further enhance the city’s facilities, BMC plans to construct a modern auditorium in Saheed Nagar. Beautification efforts are also underway ahead of key events like the President’s visit and the Immigrant Indian Conference in January 2025.

BMC is also working to clear encroachments from main roads and temporarily relocate affected traders to other areas. This, along with the approval of “Patha Utsav” (street festivals) in three city zones, is part of a broader effort to make Bhubaneswar more livable and welcoming for all.
