Bhubaneswar, Aug 10: Odisha is preparing to introduce a unique AgriStack ID for farmers, a digital identity aimed at making it easier for them to access government schemes, agricultural support and other services.

Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari said the registration process is already underway and will continue until August 31. The deadline may be extended if required to ensure that eligible farmers are not left out.

The AgriStack ID is expected to bring farmers’ agriculture-related information together under a single digital identity. This could make it easier for government agencies to identify beneficiaries and deliver assistance more efficiently.

Registration is being carried out through cooperative societies. To make the process accessible, officials will visit farmers who are unable to travel to registration centres because of personal or other difficulties.

Special arrangements have also been made for farmers who are currently living outside Odisha. Such farmers will be able to complete the registration process remotely through video conferencing, including the required eye-scan procedure.

The initiative will involve officials from the Agriculture, Revenue and Cooperative departments, who will work together to support the registration and implementation process.

Once registered, farmers will receive a dedicated identity card containing their agriculture-related information. The digital record is expected to help streamline access to government assistance and reduce difficulties in establishing eligibility for various schemes.
