Bhubaneswar, Aug 12 [UDN}:A new pilot project is all set to be launched in Bhitarkanika, marking a significant step towards promoting environmentally friendly and sustainable transportation in the region. Under the initiative, electric boats (EV boats) are expected to operate on the rivers and waterways of Bhitarkanika very soon.
The introduction of electric-powered boats is aimed at providing a cleaner and more sustainable mode of water transport while reducing dependence on conventional fuel-powered boats. The initiative is also expected to help minimise pollution and protect the delicate ecological balance of the Bhitarkanika ecosystem, which is known for its rich biodiversity, mangrove forests and aquatic wildlife.
The pilot project is being seen as an important move towards adopting green technology in tourism and water-based transportation. If successful, the EV boat initiative could potentially be expanded to other suitable waterways and tourist destinations, contributing to Odisha’s broader efforts towards clean energy and environmentally responsible development.
