Nabarangpur, Aug 17 [UDN}:Section Officer Bishwanath Panigrahi of Dabugaon Tehsil in Nabarangpur district retired from government service on August 1, 2026. In a notable administrative achievement, his final pension proposal was approved by the Accountant General (A&E), Odisha, before his retirement date, enabling him to receive all the final pension-related documents on the very day of his retirement.
This is reportedly the first such instance in the Revenue Cadre of Nabarangpur district, where an employee’s final pension was approved before retirement and the pension documents were formally handed over on the retirement day itself.
The initiative reflects the government’s objective of ensuring that employees receive their final pension sanction and related benefits without delay upon retirement. The timely completion of the pension process is being viewed as a significant step toward making retirement benefits more efficient and employee-friendly.
On the occasion, Dr. Pramod Kumar Pushti, Additional District Magistrate (General), and Bishwajit Barman, Additional District Magistrate (Revenue), felicitated Bishwanath Panigrahi by presenting him with bouquets and traditional uttariyas.
Deputy Collector (Establishment), Ms. Samina Akhtari, departmental officer Jagannath Mahapatra, pension dealing assistant Debashish Suar, along with other officials and employees of the office, were also present during the programme.
The successful completion of the process is expected to encourage other government employees and offices to begin pension processing at least one year before an employee’s retirement. Such advance preparation can help ensure that final pension approval is completed before retirement, allowing employees to receive their pension-related benefits from the very day they retire.
