The decision is being viewed as a major relief for thousands of civil service aspirants who were earlier restricted by the maximum number of attempts despite having years remaining within the permissible age limit.

Aspirants Welcome Government Decision

During their meeting with Minister Harichandan at the government residence in Bhubaneswar, the aspirants thanked him and the state government for the initiative.

The candidates said the removal of the attempt restriction would provide them with additional opportunities to pursue their civil service aspirations and prepare for the examination with renewed confidence.

The move is also expected to benefit aspirants who may have exhausted their permitted attempts but still remain within the prescribed age limit.

Focus on Equal Opportunities for Youth

The government has maintained that providing young people with opportunities to realise their aspirations, dreams and potential is an important priority.

The decision to remove the six-attempt ceiling is aimed at ensuring greater flexibility and equal opportunity for eligible candidates while encouraging them to continue their preparation for competitive examinations.

The government has also emphasised the role of quality education and equal opportunities in strengthening the state’s youth and contributing to the vision of a prosperous Odisha.

For OCS aspirants across the state, the revised policy is expected to open a new window of opportunity and allow eligible candidates to continue pursuing their civil service ambitions until the prescribed upper age limit.
