Bhubaneswar, Aug 19 [UDN}:The success of Odisha’s fisheries sector reflects the government’s continued efforts to strengthen the livelihood of people associated with fishing and aquaculture. Various initiatives have helped fish farmers gain access to better infrastructure, improved fish farming practices, financial assistance, and opportunities to expand their activities. As a result, many farmers across the state are turning fish farming into a sustainable and profitable source of livelihood.
One such inspiring example is Narayan Chandra Panda, a fish farmer from Bhadrak district. His journey demonstrates how government assistance and proper utilization of available resources can transform traditional livelihoods into successful entrepreneurial ventures.
Narayan Chandra Panda is a beneficiary of the Mukhyamantri Matsyajibi Kalyan Yojana, under which he received support to strengthen and expand his fish farming activities. Making effective use of the opportunities available to him, he has developed 17 fish ponds and has taken up fish cultivation on a large scale.
Through systematic fish farming and dedicated efforts, Narayan Chandra Panda has been able to establish a successful aquaculture enterprise. His hard work, determination, and effective adoption of fish farming practices have enabled him to earn an annual profit of around ₹20 lakh.
His achievement has not only made him financially self-reliant but has also turned him into an inspiring example for other farmers and aspiring fish entrepreneurs. His success demonstrates that with proper government assistance, planned investment, modern aquaculture practices, and sustained effort, fish farming can become a highly profitable and sustainable livelihood.
