Nabarangpur:Aug 24 [UDN}: A meeting of the Nabarangpur Assembly Constituency Development Committee was held at the local Mission Shakti Conference Hall under the chairmanship of Nabarangpur MLA and District Planning Board Chairman Gouri Shankar Majhi, with the objective of accelerating the overall development of the constituency.
District Collector Dr Maheswar Swain, Additional Collector (General) Dr Pramod Kumar Pushti, Additional Collector (Revenue) Biswajit Chandra Barman, Chief Development Officer-cum-Executive Officer of the Zilla Parishad Biranchi Narayan Darwan, MLA’s representative A. Suresh Shastri, Sub-Collector Prakash Kumar Mishra, Superintending Engineer (Roads & Buildings) K. Kandhapani, PA ITDA Rajib Lochan Sahu, District Education Officer Chhatrapati Sahu, along with district-level departmental officials, BDOs and block-level officials of Nabarangpur, Tentulikhunti, Nandahandi and Kosagumuda, attended the meeting.
The meeting reviewed and discussed in detail the development works being undertaken by various departments, implementation of government schemes, infrastructure development and measures to improve public amenities.
It was decided to install LED information boards at Circuit House Square and Kurmakot to provide information about Mangaradora Waterfall and the eco-tourism park. The concerned departments were directed to install necessary signage at all major tourist destinations. The feasibility of new minor irrigation projects at Shitli Waterfall in Bhatigaon and in the Kusumjhor area will also be explored.
Steps will be taken to regularly clean water tanks at all school hostels and Anganwadi centres and to install solar-powered water tanks. Proposals will be sent to the government for setting up mega-lift irrigation points in Ukia Palli and Suli villages of Kosagumuda block.
The newly constructed Sanmasigaon Community Health Centre will be provided with drinking water and electricity connections at the earliest and steps will be taken to make it operational. Proposals will also be submitted for the overall development of Khatiguda Project township, improvement of the bus stand, upgrading Kodinga PHC to a CHC and establishment of a new CHC at Raighar.
A new registration counter will be constructed at the District Headquarters Hospital. For beautification and infrastructure development of Nabarangpur town, measures will be taken to construct a welcome arch at the town entrance, a ring road near Hospital Square, a cowshed at Dangriguda and renovate various ponds in the town.
A decision was also taken to construct residential apartments for homeless people and a modern auditorium with a seating capacity of 1,000.
Network connectivity problems in Dangarbhela and Nandahandi villages of Nandahandi block will be addressed. To strengthen sports infrastructure in the district, steps will be taken to construct stadiums in Tentulikhunti, Nandahandi and Kosagumuda blocks and undertake comprehensive renovation of the Nabarangpur Stadium.
Necessary measures will also be taken to establish a grid sub-station at Kosagumuda. A modern fish market will be constructed near the China Market in Nabarangpur town. Steps will also be taken to establish a floating jetty at the Indravati Reservoir and promote fisheries development on a large scale.
A large-scale plantation drive will be undertaken in the Indravati dam area, while plans will be made to establish nurseries in every gram panchayat. Steps will also be taken to transfer the authority for Aadhaar name corrections to the district level for the convenience of the public.
MLA Majhi advised departmental officials to regularly review the progress of decisions concerning their respective departments and ensure that all works are completed within the stipulated timeframe.
