Dhenkanal, Aug 24: Continuous rainfall has pushed up the water level of the Ramial River, leaving the historic Kapilash Temple near Hatuari village in Dhenkanal district surrounded and submerged by floodwaters.
The rising river water entered the temple premises and submerged the deity, disrupting regular worship and leaving devotees disappointed on the final Monday of the holy month of Shravan.
For many devotees, Shravan holds special religious significance, and the last Monday is considered an important occasion to offer prayers. The flooding has therefore brought considerable disappointment to pilgrims who had hoped to visit the temple.
The Kapilash Temple is one of Odisha’s prominent religious landmarks and draws devotees throughout the year. The sudden rise in the Ramial River has made access to the temple difficult and raised concerns among local residents and visitors.
