Cuttack, Aug 26: The historic Bali Jatra in Cuttack will be held from November 24 to December 1 this year, Cuttack Collector Dattatraya Bhausaheb Shinde said on Wednesday.
The district administration has proposed holding the annual fair across both the upper and lower grounds of the Bali Jatra field. The proposal has been submitted to the state government and is awaiting approval.
With a large number of visitors expected during the week-long festival, the administration is also working on improving parking arrangements and managing traffic around the fairground.
The Collector said artists from outside Odisha, including Bollywood performers, are likely to be invited to entertain visitors during the festival. Cultural programmes and other attractions are expected to form a major part of this year’s celebrations.
Water sports activities are also being planned in the Mahanadi as part of the festival. The administration is preparing arrangements to ensure that visitors can enjoy the celebrations safely and comfortably.
Bali Jatra, one of Odisha’s most prominent traditional festivals, commemorates the state’s historic maritime trade links and attracts visitors from across Odisha and beyond.
