Jeypore,Sept 7 [UDN}: The 18th Foundation Day of the Central University of Odisha, located at Sunabeda in Koraput district, was celebrated with enthusiasm and dignity at the university’s main campus.
The programme began at 10 a.m. with the rendition of the National Anthem. This was followed by the hoisting of the university flag by Vice-Chancellor Professor (Dr.) Ajit Kumar Shasani. After the Vedic invocation, ceremonial lighting of the lamp, rendition of “Vande Utkala Janani” and a welcome song, the guests were formally welcomed.
In his welcome address, In-charge Registrar Dr. Sanjay Kumar Pradhan spoke about the significance of the occasion. Messages from the Hon’ble President of India and the Hon’ble Governor of Odisha were also read out during the programme.
Koraput MLA Raghuram Machha, Laxmipur MLA Pabitra Saunta, Padma Shri awardee Gobardhan Panika, Vice-Chancellor of Vikram Dev University, Jeypore, Professor Hrushikesh Senapati, and Director of the Bhubaneswar-based CSIR-IMMT, Professor Birendra Nath Ghosh, attended the event and addressed the gathering.
On the occasion, the “CUO at a Glance” document highlighting the university’s achievements and development was unveiled. Distinguished individuals were also felicitated for their contributions and achievements in various fields.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Professor Rathikanta Kumbhar.
The Foundation Day celebration also featured discussions on the university’s contributions to education, research and social responsibility during its 18-year journey.
