Operation AGAPE Expands Skill Development Initiative in Rural Areas, Launching Second Batch of Tailoring Training to Promote Women’s Empowerment and Self-Reliance

Nabarangpur, Sept 7 [UDN}:Operation AGAPE Skill Development Center has expanded its innovative skill-development initiative aimed at empowering orphaned girls, young women, and unemployed women from rural areas by providing them with vocational skills and helping them become self-reliant.

The second batch of the tailoring training centre was launched at Majhiguda under Podalguda Gram Panchayat. District Child Protection Officer Suresh Pattnaik attended the programme as the chief guest and inaugurated the training centre.

The initiative, which seeks to equip rural women and young girls with skills and create opportunities for employment and self-employment, was appreciated by the guests and local residents.

Sebak Garada of Khatiguda, who is leading the organisation, highlighted the objectives and future plans of the programme. He said that 15 women and young girls had completed tailoring training in the first batch, while another 15 women and young girls have enrolled in the second batch.

He further said that various skill-development programmes for girls have already been started at Khatiguda. These include electrician training, computer skills, tailoring, LED bulb manufacturing, and Aqua Water Filter production. The programmes are benefiting children from CCI as well as other local children and young men and women.

According to Garada, the primary objective of the initiative is to increase the income of economically disadvantaged rural women and youth and make them self-reliant. The centre is providing an alternative opportunity for rural youth who are unable to access quality skill training in larger cities due to financial constraints or distance.

Through this initiative, young men and women can acquire skills while staying in their own communities and create self-employment opportunities. Garada also noted that the programme could help prevent uncontrolled migration of young people—particularly minor girls and boys—to other cities in search of jobs, as well as reduce their vulnerability to human trafficking.

Local residents welcomed the initiative and described it as a commendable effort to promote self-reliance among rural women, young girls, and unemployed youth.

With the vision of “Self-reliance through skill development, and empowerment through self-reliance,” the initiative of Operation AGAPE Skill Development Center has brought a new ray of hope to many rural families.
