New Delhi , Sept 11 [UDN}: Chinese President Xi Jinping is set to visit India to attend the 18th BRICS Summit, scheduled to be held in New Delhi on September 12 and 13, 2026. China’s Foreign Ministry has officially confirmed his participation at the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The visit is particularly significant as it will be Xi Jinping’s first trip to India in seven years. His last visit was in 2019. The visit comes against the backdrop of efforts by India and China to gradually improve bilateral relations following years of tensions over the border.
The BRICS summit is also expected to provide an important platform for discussions on India-China relations, border issues, trade, investment and broader global geopolitical developments. A meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Xi Jinping is expected to draw considerable attention.
