Purnima Shines at National Sports Competition, Clinching Bronze Medal in 100-Metre Race and Showcasing Her Remarkable Athletic Talent

Kasipur,Sept 11 [UDN}:: The Saraswati Shishu Vidya Mandir at Tikiri in Kasipur Block has achieved a remarkable feat at the National Sports Competition held in Kolkata, West Bengal. Class VIII student Purnima Majhi secured third place in the junior category 100-metre race, winning a prestigious bronze medal.

Purnima, the daughter of Lachi Majhi and Kumari Pidika of Jamuguda village, has brought pride not only to her school and family but also to Rayagada district and Odisha with her impressive performance at the national level.

Following her achievement, her parents, teachers, the school management committee and villagers congratulated her and expressed their happiness over her success. When Purnima returned and arrived at Tikiri Railway Station, she was warmly welcomed and felicitated by her parents, social worker Haraprasad Nayak, Popular Majhi, Majhigouri Prasad Mishra, Muna Behera, Subas Nayak and her sports teacher Tapaswini Behera, among others.

Purnima had earlier secured first position in a running competition organised by the Odisha Shiksha Vikas Samiti at Chhatrapur. Her outstanding performance there earned her selection to represent Odisha at the national-level competition.

Notably, Purnima was reportedly the only girl from Odisha to participate in the national competition and went on to secure a medal in the 100-metre event. Her achievement has brought immense pride to Odisha and Rayagada district, while congratulations and appreciation have been pouring in from various sections of society.

Her success is being seen as an inspiration for other young athletes from rural areas who aspire to compete and excel at the state and national levels.
