Lamtaput ,Sept 15 [UDN}: Koraput district’s Lamtaput Block was once widely known for the cultivation and illegal transportation of cannabis. However, the Koraput Police have now launched a vigorous campaign to make the region free from the menace of the illegal “green poison.”
Under the leadership of Koraput Superintendent of Police Rohit Verma, the Machhkund Police have identified areas where cannabis cultivation is suspected to be taking place. Along with intensified surveillance and enforcement efforts, the police are also conducting awareness campaigns among local residents to discourage them from cultivating or engaging in the illegal trade of cannabis.
The initiative aims to curb illegal cannabis cultivation at its roots, create greater awareness among villagers about the legal consequences, and encourage people to move towards legitimate and sustainable livelihood opportunities.
