Koraput: Oct 3 [UDN}:In a potentially significant development ahead of the upcoming municipal elections, the number of wards in the Koraput Municipality may increase from the existing 21 to 26.
According to information available from the Koraput Municipality, a proposal has reportedly been submitted to the Odisha Government seeking the addition of five new wards. If approved, the municipality will have 26 wards instead of the present 21.
The proposed expansion is expected to facilitate better administrative management and representation of residents as the town continues to expand. However, the increase in the number of wards will be subject to approval by the state government and completion of the prescribed delimitation process.
Note: The proposal is currently reported as a possibility; the increase from 21 to 26 wards has not yet been confirmed as final.
