Nabarangpur, Oct 7 [UDN}: The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Nabarangpur, observed the International Day of Older Persons by organising a legal awareness camp and a health camp for senior citizens at Nirmal Akash Old Age Home in Tentulikhunti on Wednesday.
The programme was organised under the direction of Sangram Keshari Pattnaik, Chairman of the District Legal Services Authority and District & Sessions Judge, Nabarangpur.
DLSA Secretary Sai Abhispa Gochhayat attended the programme as the chief guest and sensitised the senior citizens about their various legal rights and welfare provisions. She spoke in detail about the NALSA Legal Services to Senior Citizens Scheme, 2016, the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act, 2007, and various government welfare schemes available for elderly persons.
Other guests included Dr Amarash Prasad Mohanty, Dr Samalai Prasad Panda of the CHC, Tentulikhunti, Tanushree Mishra, District Social Welfare Officer, Nabarangpur, Binata Jethi, Child Development Project Officer, Tentulikhunti, and Soumya Ranjan Nayak, Block Social Security Officer, Tentulikhunti.
The participating officials and guests explained various constitutional and legal safeguards available to senior citizens and encouraged them to remain aware of their rights and entitlements.
A health camp was also organised for the elderly residents with the support of the District Health Society, Nabarangpur, where health-related services and guidance were provided.
The programme was jointly conducted by the District Legal Services Authority, Nabarangpur, and the District Health Society, Nabarangpur, with the objective of promoting legal awareness, social security and healthcare support among senior citizens.
