Bhubaneswar, Oct 8 [UDN}:A special enforcement drive against underage driving has been launched in the capital city of Bhubaneswar, targeting vehicle riders below 18 years of age.
The joint operation is being conducted by the Regional Transport Office (RTO) and the Commissionerate Police to curb the practice of minors riding or driving vehicles without a valid driving licence. Authorities are carrying out checks along the stretch from Satyanagar Square to Master Canteen.
Under the enforcement drive, action will be taken against minors found driving vehicles. Fines will be imposed, and notices will also be issued to their parents or guardians. The authorities have warned that allowing minors to drive can lead to legal and financial consequences for the responsible guardians.
The special checking drive is being conducted for one day, as part of efforts to improve road safety and prevent accidents involving underage drivers.
