Cuttack, Oct 9 [UDN}: A special orientation programme was organised at the IPS Officers’ Mess in Cuttack for 70 newly appointed Police Sub-Inspectors (SIs) serving under the Central Range IG, covering seven districts.

The programme aimed to familiarise the newly inducted police officers with various aspects of their field responsibilities and provide guidance on the priorities they should maintain while discharging their duties.

Particular emphasis was placed on understanding the local conditions, culture, traditions and social dynamics of different areas so that the officers can perform their responsibilities effectively and sensitively. The newly appointed SIs were advised to develop a proper understanding of the communities they serve and adopt a professional approach while handling local issues.

The importance of establishing positive relations with the public, responding patiently to sensitive incidents and dealing effectively with law-and-order situations was also highlighted during the orientation programme.

The officers were further counselled on managing various forms of work-related and mental stress associated with police service. They were advised to seek support from senior officers whenever necessary and maintain their mental balance while performing their duties under challenging circumstances.

Central Range IG Satyajit Nayak said the orientation programme would prove highly beneficial for the 70 newly appointed SIs as they begin their police careers, helping them better understand their new areas of responsibility, duties and professional challenges.
