Mayurbhanj, Oct 9 (UDN): A patient died and two people sustained injuries after an oxygen cylinder reportedly exploded inside a private ambulance near Udala College in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district on Thursday morning. The explosion triggered a fire, damaging the ambulance and leaving the occupants injured.
According to reports, the incident occurred at around 8:45 am when the patient was being shifted to another healthcare facility for further treatment.
SK Mirza, security in-charge of Udala Hospital, said the explosion occurred when the oxygen cylinder was switched on. The blast reportedly caused the ambulance to catch fire, resulting in the patient’s death.
Mirza further stated that two people were injured after metal components from the ambulance’s roof collapsed during the incident.
Following the explosion and fire, fire service personnel rushed to the spot to bring the situation under control. Further details regarding the circumstances leading to the explosion and the identities of those affected are awaited.
