At Baramunda, the Baramunda Durga Puja Committee organised the event at Kali Mandir Ground, where a 60-foot effigy of Ravana was burnt. Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi attended the programme along with office-bearers and members of the organising committee.

In Kapilaprasad, the Sundarpada-Kapilaprasad Durga Puja Cultural Council conducted the ritual at the local football ground, burning a 50-foot effigy. A similar celebration took place at Kasturba Playground, where the Nuapalli Durga Puja Samiti organised the burning of another 50-foot effigy.

The Nuapalli event was attended by committee adviser Nabakishore Behera, Berhampur MP Pradeep Panigrahy, senior BJP leader Priyadarshi Mishra, social worker Rozalin Pattasahani and other members of the organising committee.

At Bankuala, a 70-foot effigy was set ablaze on the banks of the Daya River. A large poster featuring a cockroach was also displayed beside the effigy, reportedly in connection with the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP), adding a distinctive element to the event.

Meanwhile, the Koradakanta Durga Puja Samiti organised a Ravan Dahan ceremony featuring a 65-foot effigy. Village committee president Gyanaranjan Jena performed the ritual to set it alight. Celebrations were also held at Naharakantha and the Gopalpur playground, where large numbers of people gathered to witness the spectacle.

Elaborate Security Arrangements

The Commissionerate Police put comprehensive security measures in place at all seven venues to ensure the smooth conduct of the celebrations. Barricades were erected, and spectators were restricted from approaching within approximately 100 metres of the effigies to minimise risks during the burning ceremonies.

Fire service personnel and electrical teams were deployed at the venues and remained on standby throughout the events to respond to any emergencies.

The celebrations concluded amid cheers and festive gatherings, reinforcing the enduring significance of Vijayadashami and its message of righteousness prevailing over evil. The large public turnout reflected the enthusiasm with which residents of Bhubaneswar continue to observe the festival through community-organised events and traditional rituals.
