Bhubaneswar, Oct 29 [UDN}: Attending the state-level ‘Vigilance Awareness Week’ programme organised at the Lok Seva Bhawan Convention Centre, I administered the oath of integrity to all the officers and citizens present, urging them to stand united against corruption.
The true objective of good governance is to completely eliminate corruption, leakages and the misappropriation of public funds, ensuring that the benefits of government welfare schemes reach every eligible beneficiary. Today, this objective is being translated into reality through our government’s zero-tolerance policy towards corruption.
Firm and decisive measures, including the swift investigation and resolution of cases, achieving the highest-ever conviction rate, dismissing corrupt employees and officials from service, withholding pensions and initiating prosecution, have helped Odisha Vigilance emerge as one of the leading anti-corruption agencies in the country.
Governance is no longer conducted from ivory towers; instead, it is increasingly guided by the voices and concerns of ordinary citizens through the Janasunani (public grievance hearing) platform. At the same time, the adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and cyber forensics, the establishment of a Preventive Vigilance Research Wing, and the approval of new posts have further strengthened the system, making it more transparent, efficient and accountable.
The central theme for this year, ‘Probity for Prosperity’, conveys the message that integrity is the foundation of sustainable development and collective prosperity. By embracing honesty and ethical conduct as a way of life, we can build a cleaner, more transparent and corruption-free Odisha.
Let us all come together with a firm commitment to uphold integrity, strengthen public accountability and ensure that the benefits of governance reach every deserving citizen. Together, let us work towards building a prosperous Odisha founded on honesty, transparency and good governance.
