2nd January 2025: Odisha is preparing to introduce five electric double-decker buses, which will arrive from Maharashtra, enhancing the state’s public transport system. Two buses are expected to reach Bhubaneswar by midnight or tomorrow, with the remaining buses set to arrive soon. Today, two buses have already departed, and two more will follow shortly.
Each bus will accommodate up to 64 passengers, including the driver. With 240 kWh batteries, these buses can travel up to 150 km on a single charge. Initially, these buses will serve overseas Indian tourists, with plans to expand their routes to Cuttack, Bhubaneswar, and Puri.
This initiative will not only provide a sustainable mode of transportation but also improve the travel experience for both locals and tourists.
