
2nd December 2024: The silver jubilee session of the Odisha Bigyan ‘O’ Paribesh Congress, with the theme ‘Fostering Science for Holistic Development,’ concluded on December 1 with a special ceremony. The event was a collaborative effort between the Orissa Environmental Society (OES) and the CSIR-Institute of Minerals and Materials Technology (IMMT). OES President Sundara Narayana Patro chaired the event, while former BPUT Vice-Chancellor Omkar Nath Mohanty was the chief guest and RMRC Director Sanghamitra Pati served as the guest of honor.
During the ceremony, Mohanty emphasized the importance of advancing science and technology responsibly, stressing that development must be approached in a balanced and sustainable way. He called for the careful regulation of technology’s role in everyday life to ensure it contributes positively to society. Pati, on the other hand, highlighted the crucial role of scientific research, pointing to the Covid pandemic as an example of how science can provide timely and effective solutions to global crises. The event reinforced the idea that a holistic approach to scientific progress is key to fostering overall societal well-being.
