2nd September 2025: In a significant step towards improving healthcare accessibility across Odisha, the state government has announced the expansion of its flagship Nidaan scheme to include AYUSH hospitals and dispensaries. Starting within a fortnight, patients seeking Ayurvedic and Homoeopathic treatments will be able to avail free diagnostic services at these centres.
Announcing the initiative, Health & Family Welfare Minister Mukesh Mahaling stated that the expanded scheme will be implemented in nine Homoeopathic and Ayurvedic medical colleges and more than 1,100 AYUSH hospitals and dispensaries across the state.
“This initiative will bring a transformative shift in healthcare delivery and ensure more accurate treatment for people across Odisha,” said Minister Mahaling.
The move aims to benefit thousands of patients who have traditionally relied on symptom-based treatments without access to proper diagnostic support. By offering free tests for 40 types of diseases, the initiative is expected to significantly enhance diagnostic accuracy and improve patient outcomes in AYUSH healthcare facilities.
Patients visiting these centres will now undergo essential diagnostic tests before consulting doctors, helping healthcare providers offer more precise and effective treatments.
In addition to free diagnostic services, the government has also waived all user fees at AYUSH hospitals, except for cabin charges, making treatment more affordable for the general public.
Minister Mahaling expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Health Minister JP Nadda, Union AYUSH Minister Prataprao Jadhav, and Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi for their continued support in strengthening Odisha’s healthcare infrastructure.
