18th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas to be Held in Bhubaneswar from January 8-10

Pravasi Bharatiya Divas, or NRI Day, is celebrated annually on January 9 to honor the significant contributions of the Indian diaspora to India’s growth and development. The day marks the return of Mahatma Gandhi to India from South Africa in 1915, a turning point in India’s history and the freedom struggle.

This day is dedicated to recognizing the impact of Indians living abroad while strengthening their ties with their homeland. It serves as a platform for NRIs to share their experiences, exchange ideas, and celebrate the cultural diversity of India. The event typically features discussions, sessions, and cultural performances, fostering a deeper connection between India and its global citizens.

The 18th edition of Pravasi Bharatiya Divas, scheduled for 2024, will take place in Bhubaneswar from January 8 to 10. Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi recently reviewed the event preparations, highlighting that this occasion will provide an excellent opportunity to showcase Odisha on the world stage.

The event will feature participation from key figures, with the Minister of Foreign Trade attending on the first day, the Prime Minister on the second day, and the President on the final day. It will also feature presentations on Odisha’s rich heritage, including its arts, crafts, music, dance, tribal culture, languages, literature, and tourism attractions, through various digital and multimedia platforms.
