Albendazole Tablets Administered to Children During Deworming Drive in Malkangiri

Malkangiri ,Feb, 12: The district-level National Deworming Day was inaugurated at 11:45 a.m. at the District Headquarters Hospital, Malkangiri.

The programme was inaugurated by District Collector Shri Somesh Kumar Upadhyay as the chief guest. Among others present were Chief District Medical & Public Health Officer Dr. Dolamani Pradhan; Superintendent of District Headquarters Hospital Dr. Chaudhury Nihar Ranjan Praharaj; Additional District Public Health Officer (Family Welfare) Dr. Saubhagya Ranjan Ranasingh; other district-level health officials; hospital administrators; health department staff; and members of the public.

Under this programme, deworming tablets or syrup will be administered to a total of 221,583 boys and girls aged 1 to 19 years across the district. The medicines will be distributed at schools and Anganwadi centres by ASHA workers, Anganwadi workers, and female health workers.

Additionally, arrangements have been made to provide deworming tablets to 20,336 women aged 20 to 24 years (of reproductive age). Those who miss taking the tablet on February 10 will be covered on the mop-up day scheduled for February 17.

On this occasion, Immunization Computer Assistant Shri Shiva Prasad Praharaj, District Immunization Supply Manager Shri Jatiranjan Mahalik, Additional District Public Health Officer Shri Shyama Sundar Majhi, the Superintendent of the District Headquarters Hospital, and other health department officials and staff extended their cooperation in organizing the programme.
