Astrophotographer Malay Captures Stunning Image of a Comet

Jeypore, 4th Nov 2025:  A comet was recently sighted in the skies over the Jeypore region, and Malay Patra, a young man from Jeypore town, has become the talk of the area after successfully capturing this rare celestial event on his camera.

The C/2025 A6 (Lemon) comet, discovered on January 3, 2025, came closest to Earth on October 1, 2025. Scientists have noted that it will next be visible in the year 3175, making this sighting exceptionally rare.

On Friday night, near the Durgabhata Road area of Dangarchhinchi Panchayat under Jeypore Block, Malay captured clear images of the C/2025 A6 (Lemon) comet. Due to cloudy weather over the past few days, it had been difficult to photograph, but on Friday night, the sky cleared, giving him the perfect opportunity to take pictures through a telescope.

The comet was first discovered earlier this year at Mount Lemmon Observatory in Tucson, Arizona (USA), and was subsequently named after the observatory. It came closest to Earth on October 1, and was most clearly visible from the Jeypore region on October 27.

This bright green-colored comet glowed vividly in the night sky. According to Mr. Patra, anyone wishing to observe the comet can do so about 90 minutes after sunset, by looking 25–30 degrees above the western horizon using a telescope.
