Audit Week 2024 Begins: AI Can’t Replace Human Intelligence, Says Bachaspati

Bhubaneswar, Nov 19, 2024Audit Week 2024 officially began today at the AG Office in Bhubaneswar, with Bachaspati Surama Padhi, the local head of the audit office, inaugurating the event. This is the fourth edition of the annual event, organized in collaboration with the Pradhan Mahalehakar Office and the East Coast Railway Office.

During his speech, Padhi emphasized the critical role of sustainable practices in addressing the challenges posed by climate change. He urged participants to contribute to green initiatives, such as tree planting, to help mitigate the environmental impact. Padhi also highlighted the growing importance of information technology in enhancing the quality and accuracy of audit reports, urging auditors to leverage these tools effectively.

Additionally, Padhi discussed the evolving role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in auditing but stressed that AI cannot replace human judgment and intelligence, particularly in complex decision-making processes.

The event was attended by several key officials, including Raj Kumar, Chief Auditor, D. Sahoo, Chief Auditor (AI and IT), and A.F. Dungdung, Director of East Coast Railway. The week’s activities aim to raise awareness about the role of the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) in ensuring transparency and accountability in government operations.

As part of the celebration, a blood donation camp was organized, and students were encouraged to participate in community service, reinforcing the importance of civic responsibility. The week-long event is expected to highlight the value of auditing in public administration and promote greater accountability within government bodies.
