BJD Dominates Jajpur Regulated Market Committee Polls After 14-Year Gap

Jajpur, Feb, 11: After 14 years, the new government decided to conduct the election for the Jajpur Regulated Market Committee (RMC), which has now put the BJP in a difficult position. In the election held today, the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) secured a one-sided victory.

Voting was conducted for 8 seats from the farmers’ constituency. Out of these, BJD captured 7 seats, while only one seat went to the BJP. The BJP, which had attempted to corner BJD through a divided vote strategy by pushing for the election, ultimately found the move backfiring.

According to the final results, BJP-supported candidate Sudipta Panda secured 847 votes. Meanwhile, the following BJD-supported candidates were declared victorious:

Shakti Ranjan Mohanty – 658 votes
Amarendra Mishra – 656 votes
Chittaranjan Sahu – 636 votes
Pankaj Kumar Sahu – 571 votes
Pradeepta Senapati – 571 votes
Dibakar Mallik – 562 votes
Brundaban Sahu – 559 votes

After the election and vote counting held at Jajpur Harisamanta School premises, the winning candidates celebrated their victory. They expressed gratitude to BJD supremo Naveen Patnaik and former Jajpur MLA Pranab Prakash Das for the party’s massive win.
