Bhanjanagar,Mar, 20: At a time when open-stage dramas are increasingly being organized for commercial purposes, Tofan Kala Sansad of Bhanjanagar in Ganjam district has been presenting stage plays with local artists for the past 40 years.
On the occasion of the institution’s annual celebration this year, two popular plays — “Jaal” and “Asanta Kalira Surjya” (The Sun of Tomorrow) — were staged at Dhananjaya Nagar featuring local performers. The plays were written by Gangadhar Bishoyi and directed by Abhimanyu Bishoyi.
On the first day, the Chief Guest was Bhanjanagar Block Development Officer Bharati Devi, who inaugurated the programme. Senior director Upendra Kumar Satpathy attended as the chief speaker. The president of the organization, Garib Swain, advisor Rotarian Ranjit Kumar Barik, and secretary Kantu Panigrahi were also present on the dais.
The speakers appreciated the organization for continuously promoting art for many years and providing opportunities to new artists in stage drama. They expressed hope that these young artists would earn great recognition in the field of acting in the coming days.
A large crowd of spectators gathered over the two-day event to watch the plays. Certificates were distributed to all the artists by the guests. All the members of Tofan Kala Sansad actively supported the successful organization of the programme.
