Commuters Face Hardship at Hinjilikatu Bus Stand Amid Poor Maintenance

Hinjilikatu,12th Aug 2025:  To build the town beautifully and provide better facilities to travelers, the Hinjilikatu MLA and former Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had constructed a bus terminal at a cost of ₹3.21 crore in his constituency Hinjilikatu.

However, the terminal is now in a state of disarray. Due to lack of proper rainwater drainage, even light rain causes waterlogging inside the bus stand premises, creating a pond-like effect. Several fans are broken and non-functional.

Many paver blocks have collapsed. At night, the ground becomes muddy and uneven. Early in the morning, travelers entering the terminal are suffocated by the foul smell.

The bus stand also lacks an adequate number of CCTV cameras, which has led to a rise in misconduct by rowdies day by day.

A few days ago, during heavy rain, the bus stand premises again turned into a waterlogged area resembling an artificial pond. Hundreds of buses entered the terminal, making the situation even more chaotic.

This issue was reported in the local daily on June 17. After the report, the administration showed some urgency and leveled the ground with cement concrete. However, residents now demand a permanent solution involving proper drainage and rainwater disposal systems.

Although the municipal office is located near the bus terminal, despite repeated complaints and efforts by officials and workers, a permanent solution has not yet been implemented, raising serious questions.
