Koraput, Dec, 06: The block-level festival was inaugurated on Tuesday at Mahakumara in Nandapur Sadar of Koraput district. The ceremonial torch was brought from Kutunipada and was taken on a procession, accompanied by music and dance, through the local areas. The procession made its way to the Sindura Gochiani Temple, where prayers were offered, and the torch procession continued to the High School Parade Ground in the village.
The event was attended by several key figures including Block Chairperson Sabitri Kartul, Vice-Chairperson Gopal Hantala, BDO Durga Prasad Dora, Tahsildar Debabrata Maharana, SDPO Devendra Mallick, MP representative Gopal Matam, MLA representative Tinidh Kamese Kamudi, District Council Member Bilasini Nayak, and other community leaders such as Sarpanch Sangha President Jagabandhu Cheti, BJP leader Chaitanya Nandibali, social worker Bichitrananda Panda, former Block Chairperson Gopal Krishna Bebarta, and others. These leaders participated in the traditional worship ceremony.
The festival committee Chairperson, Sabitri Kartul, raised the flag to officially announce the commencement of the block-level festival. This was followed by the participation of 23 panchayats in various competitions, including sports and cultural events. Nandapur and Dapur block’s Sarpanch Sangha organized and managed the event.
Various government departments, including Agriculture, Education, Women and Child Development, and Health, set up stalls showcasing different schemes and services for the public. The police and fire services ensured the security and smooth functioning of the event.
On Wednesday, Koraput District Collector, Kruti, honored the participants of the competition during a special program. Information regarding the ongoing activities was shared by Durga Prasad Dora via video updates.
At the festival venue, a traditional idol was installed, and guests participated in the religious worship ceremony, marking the cultural and traditional spirit of the festival.
