Bhubaneswar, May 30: A deep depression over the Bay of Bengal has crossed the West Bengal-Bangladesh coast, causing widespread rain across Odisha. The Regional Meteorological Centre has issued Orange and Yellow warnings for several districts due to the likelihood of heavy rain, thunderstorms, and gusty winds.

Districts like Ganjam, Koraput, Rayagada, and Bhadrak are under Orange Alert with expected wind speeds of 30–40 kmph. Meanwhile, Puri, Cuttack, Khurda, Mayurbhanj, and others are under Yellow Alert for moderate to heavy rainfall and lightning.

Authorities have advised people to stay indoors during bad weather and remain alert to official updates. The system is expected to bring much-needed rain but may also lead to localized disruptions.
