Devotees Throng Korukonda as Maa Mauli Festival Commences

Korukonda, Feb, 28:  The grand festival (Bada Yatra) of Maa Mauli has commenced at Mandiabhatta in Korukonda. This evening, the Goddess was taken in a special palanquin procession from Mandiabhatta around the town.

Devotees carrying ceremonial staffs representing various deities invited from different regions participated in the procession. The town reverberated with traditional musical instruments, folk dances, fireworks, and celebratory gunshots. Hundreds of devotees joined the procession.

It is believed that wishes and vows offered to Maa Mauli are fulfilled. On the occasion of the Bada Yatra, temporary shops and stalls have been set up in the area, and traditional folk drama performances are being organized for the entertainment of devotees.

Considering the large gathering of devotees, police forces have been deployed to maintain law and order. Fire service personnel have also been stationed. Members of the local youth association and the पूजा committee are actively managing and organizing the festival.

Notably, the yatra of Maa Thakurani began last Friday. On Saturday, rituals and पूजा were performed throughout the day at a temporary pavilion. In the evening, the Goddess was taken in a ceremonial procession from the temporary pavilion to Mandiabhatta amid a large gathering of devotees.

Today, rituals and worship continued throughout the day. Devotees from within the district and outside visited to seek blessings and offer bhog (sacred offerings) to the Goddess.
