11th December 2024: Bhubaneswar is preparing to introduce double-decker electric buses, with the Central Regional Urban Transport (CRUT) calling for tenders for the project. The plan includes deploying these buses across Khordha, Puri, and Cuttack districts, with an initial roll-out of five buses in the first phase.
The contract for these electric buses will be for 10 years, covering their supply, operation, maintenance, and staffing. If necessary, the contract could be extended for an additional two years. This initiative aims to improve public transportation while promoting sustainability, providing a modern, eco-friendly solution for the city and surrounding areas.
