Nabarangpur, 13th Oct 2025: : Senior citizens are the experienced lamps of our village society, inspiring citizens who have walked the long path of life. To honor and respect these senior citizens, a special event was held on Friday at the Nandahandi Panchayat Committee premises to celebrate Senior Citizens Day.
The meeting was graced by the presence of Member of Parliament representative Janaki Kant Bishoyi, Block Development Officer Kshiraj Chandra Sahu, newly appointed Additional Tahsildar Bishwajit Karkara, Panchayat Committee member Abhimanyu Nayak, Dangarbheja Sarpanch, Patharlasa Sarpanch, and Mistri Panchayat Sarpanchs.
At the gathering, more than 60 senior citizens from various villages, including communities such as Harijan and Dhan Majhi, were honored and respected with shawls and mementos as a mark of appreciation. Students from schools were also awarded trophies and certificates to boost their morale.
During the event, the Nandahandi health group conducted health check-ups. In the following session, Dr. Swapna, Officer of the Community Health Center, inspired everyone with her motivational words. At the conclusion of the event, a message resonated among all present:
“Age is not retirement; it is a new chapter of experience and knowledge.”
This event is considered a unique initiative to awaken respect and a sense of service towards the elderly in society.
