Empowerment Key to Progress of Transgender Community

Nabarangpur, April 7:  The International Transgender Day of Visibility was observed on Tuesday under the initiative of the Nabarangpur district administration and the District Social Security Department.
On this occasion, members of the transgender community from across the district, along with representatives of various organizations and dignitaries, first offered prayers at the Maa Bhandargharani Temple. This was followed by a grand rally with musical accompaniment, which proceeded to Vinayak Bhavan.
The rally was attended by Municipality Chairperson Kunu Nayak, Social Security Officer Sudhanshu Patra, District Transgender Association President Manoj Kumar Pattnaik, advisor Jagannath Mohapatra, advisor Sharmistha Deo, and transgender participants from all blocks of the district.
Later, a meeting was held in the conference hall of Vinayak Bhavan under the अध्यक्षता of Social Security Officer Sudhanshu Patra. Speaking as the chief guest, District Transgender Association President Manoj Kumar Pattnaik emphasized that the development of the transgender community is possible only through the cooperation of all sections of society.
Other dignitaries present on the dais included Association President Kajol Kinnar and Secretary Chumuki Kinnar. The program was conducted by Ashakiran President Jagannath Behera.
On this occasion, the district administration provided identity cards and welcome kits to five newly joined transgender members. Additionally, the administration distributed various items such as computers, fans, chairs, tables, and a television to the District Transgender Association.
Additional Social Security Officer A. Dhanurjaya Rao, Mithun Tripathy, and Brundaban Behera assisted in organizing the program.
