Federation of Anganwadi Workers Submits Memorandum to Prime Minister

Jeypore, 23rd Aug 2025:  With a 10-point charter of demands, more than 500 members of the All India Anganwadi Workers’ Federation from 14 blocks of Koraput district submitted a memorandum addressed to the Prime Minister through the District Collector.

Starting with a massive rally from the premises near the Rahul Shiva Temple in Koraput, the workers marched to the District Collector’s office and submitted their memorandum.

According to the Anganwadi workers, the government is taking “5G-level work while paying only 2G-level wages.” Their key demands include:

  • A salary ofRs18,000 for Anganwadi workers and Rs9,000 for helpers.
  • Post-retirement one-time assistance of Rs10 lakh for workers andRs ₹5 lakh for helpers.
  • Monthly pensions of ₹5,000 for workers and ₹3,000 for helpers.
  • Summer vacation, like schools, during extreme heat to ensure the safety of children aged 3–6 years who attend Anganwadi centres.
  • Removal of age limit restrictions for Anganwadi workers.
  • 50% direct promotion opportunities.
  • Provision of high-quality mobile phones with an annual recharge allowance of Rs3,999.
  • The memorandum was formally submitted to Additional District Collector Tapan Nayak.
