21st April 2025: In a significant move to celebrate the legacy of Odisha’s illustrious women and promote the state’s rich cultural traditions, Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi announced that eight buildings of a prominent institution will be named after eminent women from Odisha’s history.
As part of this initiative, the conference hall of the institution will be named “Ramadevi Sammilani Kaksha” in honor of the great freedom fighter and social reformer Ramadevi. The auditorium will be known as “Sarala Devi Prekshyalaya“, paying tribute to the renowned poetess Sarala Devi. Similarly, the library will be called “Kamala Pujari Granthagara“, acknowledging the tribal leader and Padma Shri awardee Kamala Pujari.

Other buildings include the Anganwadi Training Center, which will be named “Shailebala Das Prashikshan Kaksha”, recognizing the contributions of Odisha’s first woman graduate and social worker. A new hostel will be titled “Malati Choudhury Nibas“, honoring the renowned freedom fighter and Gandhian. The Anganwadi worker hostel will bear the name “Bangara Devi Nibas”, and the guest house will be known as “Gurubari Jani Atithi Bhavan”, both recognizing grassroots-level women leaders who left a lasting impact on society.
The Chief Minister stated that this step not only commemorates the achievements of these extraordinary women but also inspires future generations to uphold the values of service, courage, and empowerment. The scope of the institution will also be expanded to enhance its reach and impact.
