Grant-in-Aid Relief Expected for 2008–2018 Appointees

Bhubaneswar, Feb 2:The long-pending demand to provide grant-in-aid to lecturers and employees appointed between June 1, 2008 and June 1, 2018 in various aided and unaided colleges of the state is likely to be fulfilled, according to a press release issued by the Odisha State Private College Lecturers and Employees’ Association.

A delegation of the association recently held discussions with a high-level delegation of the state government. During the meeting held at the “Ama College Ama Gaurav” conference hall in Toshali Bhawan, members of the association stated that lecturers and employees appointed in aided and unaided colleges have been continuing their agitation for many years demanding grant-in-aid.

Although discussions were held at different times in inter-ministerial committee meetings and decisions were reportedly taken to provide the grant, the state government has not yet issued a formal notification regarding the new grant-in-aid policy. The association members urged the government to take necessary steps in this regard.
The high-level committee constituted by the state government under the chairmanship of retired administrative officer Ashok Kumar Tripathy heard the demands of the association and assured that discussions would be held with the Higher Education Department at the earliest to issue formal guidelines.

The delegation was led by Association President Bishwaranjan Das and included Secretary Priyabrata Mohapatra, Convenor Neelu Nayak, Bapuji Mohapatra, Prakash Chandra Satpathy, Keshab Chandra Sahu, and Pradeep Kumar Majhi, among others. MLA Babu Singh was also present during the discussion.
