The previous jail sentence has been replaced, and now fines have been increased.
Fines have been raised from ₹100 to ₹25,000, and from ₹1,000 to ₹75,000.
These new regulations will come into effect after the Odisha Jan Vishwas Bill 2025 is passed in the Legislative Assembly.
The Bill amends 16 core state laws across 9 different departments.
The Bill prohibits any form of gambling in public markets, fairs, or on the streets.
Anyone caught engaging in or assisting in animal fights will also be penalized.
The government is taking strict action against individuals or entities involved in such activities. The penalties will be enforced without delay by the Sub-Divisional Magistrate.
This new Bill aims to control gambling and illegal animal fighting activities, introducing stronger deterrents and penalties.
