Nabarangpur, 13th Oct 2025: As part of the district-level observance of the 8th Rashtriya Poshan Maah 2025, a program was held on Thursday at the Local Skill Development Training Centre in Nabarangpur. The event was chaired by Additional District Magistrate (Revenue) Biswajit Barman.
Other dignitaries present included:
- Biranchi Narayan Darwan (Chief Development Officer, Zilla Parishad)
- Malay Tripathy (ADPHO)
- Ravindra Palaka (District Welfare Officer)
- Droupadi Kahar (District Social Welfare Officer)
- Suresh Kumar Pattnaik (DCPO)
- Anil Praharaj (Agriculture Officer)
During the program, DSWO Droupadi Kahar explained the importance of celebrating the 8th National Nutrition Month. Emphasis was placed on:
- Reducing consumption of sugar and oil to prevent obesity
- Providing proper nutrition education from early childhood
- Promoting balanced and nutritious food for children
- The role of men in supporting nutrition efforts and encouraging the use of locally available food were also highlighted.
ADPHO Tripathy stated that the campaign “Healthy Women, Empowered Families” was launched on 17th September as part of Poshan Maah. Under this initiative, health checkups are being conducted for:
Women (for blood pressure, diabetes, cancer)
Testing for anaemia (pneumonia), tuberculosis, and sickle cell disease
Regular health checkups for pregnant women
Vaccination for children
Mental health counselling for adolescent girls through a dedicated medical unit
Agriculture Officer Anil Praharaj encouraged citizens to start kitchen gardens at home and to include millets (mandia) in the national food basket.
In his speech, the Additional District Magistrate emphasized that for the advancement of society, the active participation of men is crucial alongside ensuring women’s good health.

- Anganwadi workers and supervisors.
