Kotpad Block Office Sees Stir as Mission Shakti Members Voice 6-Point Demands

Kotpad, 13th Oct 2025: In front of the Odisha Livelihoods Mission (OLM) office at the Kotpad Block premises, a peaceful and organized protest was held by Mission Shakti women workers. Holding placards and chanting slogans, they staged a dharna (sit-in protest) to press for their six-point charter of demands.

The key demands raised by the women were:

1. Restoration of Regular Salary – They stated that earlier they used to receive regular fixed salaries, but currently they are not, causing financial difficulties in their families.

2. Permanent Appointments – They demanded regularization of their employment status.

3. Abolishment of Performance-Based Pay – They opposed the current performance-linked payment system.

4. Release of 6 Months’ Pending Arrears – They asked for immediate disbursal of the backlog of six months’ pay.

5. Wage Revision Due to Price Hike – They cited that rising prices are making it difficult to run households with the current remuneration.

6. Work-Based Fair Compensation – They demanded that wages should be commensurate with the amount and nature of work being done.

The protesting women workers included Mission Shakti members like MBKs (Master Book Keepers), CRPs (Community Resource Persons), Krushi Mitras (Agriculture Friends), Prani Mitras (Livestock Friends), Bank Mitras (Banking Friends), and E-LSPs (Entrepreneurship Livelihood Support Persons). They also submitted a memorandum of demands addressed to the Chief Minister.

During the protest, Mission Shakti workers’ president Janaki Pattnaik and secretary Tanuja Raut, along with other women workers, were present and actively participated in the demonstration with full cooperation.
