Paralakhemundi, March 25: An executive meeting of the Gajapati district branch of the Utkal Sambadik Sangha was held today at Paralakhemundi, the district headquarters of Gajapati district.
The meeting took place at Radharani Kalyan Mandap premises, where members from various blocks of the district participated and discussed several important issues. Major decisions were taken during the meeting.
It was decided that all members of the association would be provided with insurance coverage along with immediate financial and legal assistance when required. A district-level Journalists’ Welfare Fund will be created to offer financial support to journalists facing difficult situations. Additionally, an experienced lawyer has been appointed by the association to provide legal assistance to journalists who face harassment or legal challenges from time to time.
All members have been insured so that in case of any accident or unforeseen incident, insurance compensation will be provided to their family members to cover medical expenses. Necessary arrangements for this have been resolved.
Following the announcement of retirement by the former district president, new office-bearers were elected unanimously. Senior journalist Dwijendranath Padhi was elected as the new President. Saroj Bir was elected as General Secretary, Sujit Bisoyi as Working President, Panchanan Das and Santosh Pattnaik as Vice-Presidents, Sujit Pradhan as Joint Secretary, and Dillip Satpathy as Treasurer.
Advocate B. Praveen Kumar has been appointed as Legal Advisor. The Advisory Board includes Bhagabat Padhi, Pradeep Nayak, Bidhan Choudhury, and Hrushikesh Gouda. Bidhan Choudhury has also been selected as a State Executive Member, while senior journalists Premalal Mishra, Prashant Mishra, Lokanath Panda, Surya Parag Chhinchani, Bhagaban Nayak, and Vivekananda Behera have been chosen as District Executive Members.
