Manmohan Samal’s Delhi Visit Sparks Buzz Over Cabinet Reshuffle, Key Appointment

Bhubaneswar,2nd Aug 2025: BJP Odisha state president Manmohan Samal, accompanied by state general secretary Manas Mohanty, left for Delhi on Tuesday. Though no official statement was released by the party regarding the visit, strong political speculation suggests that the trip is linked to a potential cabinet reshuffle and appointments to state-run corporations.

Just a day before, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi had met the Governor at Raj Bhavan. On the same day, three key law ministers also held discussions with the Governor. Today, Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari also met the Governor and discussed disaster management and welfare programs.

There is growing buzz around which ministers might retain their positions and who may be replaced. It’s expected that during Samal’s visit to Delhi, final decisions regarding the new list of ministers and corporation heads may be sealed.

Notably, Samal is scheduled to meet central party leadership and Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. Additionally, there are reports that CM Mohan Charan Majhi may also visit Delhi within two days.

Earlier statements by Samal after returning from Delhi had hinted at a cabinet expansion and corporate appointments soon. However, the process was reportedly delayed due to controversies around a recent female custodial death case, which generated significant political backlash.

Currently, six ministerial posts remain vacant. However, not all may be filled in this round. Instead, discussions indicate that some current ministers may be asked to resign to make way for eight new ministers, with three possible resignations expected.

The developments indicate that major changes are imminent in the Odisha government and within the ruling BJP organization in the coming days.
