Tentulikhunti,20th Aug 2025: Without any coaching, Sipun Pujari of Tentulikhunti, Nabarangpur district, has cracked the NEET exam by studying only through YouTube. He secured a State Rank of 3858 and an ST Category Rank of 376, earning a seat at Koraput Medical College during the just-concluded counseling process.
However, despite his achievement, the dream of pursuing MBBS now faces uncertainty due to financial hardship. Coming from a poor family, Sipun is worried about arranging the required funds.
Sipun hails from Bhatarasahi of Tentulikhunti village. His father, Kanchan Pujari, managed to support his studies only up to Class X. Despite scoring 80% in matriculation, he could not enroll in +2 Science due to lack of money. After a report about him appeared in the media, help came from various quarters. Malaya Panigrahi of Kosagumuda block took the responsibility of sponsoring his +2 Science studies. Sipun excelled with 88% marks in +2.
But financial distress at home forced him to work as a migrant laborer in Andhra Pradesh. With the earnings from daily wage work, he bought books, notebooks, and a smartphone, and prepared for NEET entirely by watching YouTube lessons. His hard work paid off with success in the exam.
Sadly, the next challenge is money. For admission at Koraput Medical College, he needs ₹37,950 as admission fees, ₹14,000 for hostel charges, and another ₹10,000 for miscellaneous expenses. Over five years, the MBBS course would cost around ₹7 lakh. With no resources to bear this expense, Sipun’s dream of becoming a doctor now hangs in the balance.
Intellectuals and well-wishers feel that if the district administration and state government take responsibility for his medical education, the future of this poor but brilliant student can shine bright.
