Nabarangpur, 16th Aug 2025: At the Mission Shakti Conference Hall, Nabarangpur Constituency Development Committee meeting was held under the chairmanship of Nabarangpur MLA Gauri Shankar Majhi, where the progress of various departments was reviewed.
At the outset, District Collector Dr. Maheshwar Swain welcomed everyone and urged for expediting work to ensure the successful implementation of departmental schemes and projects in the Nabarangpur constituency.
Present in the meeting were Zilla Parishad Chief Development Officer Biranchi Narayan Daroban, Additional District Magistrate Prakash Kumar Mishra, PA, ITDA Rajeev Lochan Sahu, CDMO Dr. Santosh Panda, along with all departmental officers, and BDOs of the four blocks under the constituency—Tentulikhunti, Nabarangpur, Kosagumuda, and Nandahandi. The meeting was conducted by Planning and Coordination Deputy Director Aishwarya Bhanj.
During the meeting, reviews were conducted on various developmental works of the blocks in sectors like rural development, rural water supply and sanitation, education, roads and housing, fisheries and animal resources, employment generation, agriculture, health, MSME, lift irrigation, minor irrigation, tribal and scheduled caste development, horticulture, and national highways.
From 10:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., the MLA reviewed the progress of all block-level development works with the concerned departmental officials. He instructed government officers in his constituency to initiate the necessary processes quickly to fulfill the responsibilities and budget allocations provided by the state government for the successful execution of various schemes.
He emphasized road construction and bridge building in panchayats and remote villages, prioritizing irrigation through faster implementation of lift irrigation and minor irrigation projects, and providing opportunities for educated and skilled unemployed youth. He also said that the results of such efforts are visible during his field visits, but wherever deficiencies are noticed, the concerned officials will be held accountable.
The MLA, during the review, discussed the excessive use of chemical fertilizers and possible alternatives, promotion of handicrafts like lac products, tribal ornaments, items made from paddy and maize, and handloom products prepared by local weavers, along with branding and market linkages.
Other points included filling up vacant departmental posts in the district, arranging counseling services, identifying and developing land for cow shelters, expediting the construction and functioning of PM Shri Schools, implementing large-scale tree plantation programs under the “One Tree in Mother’s Name” campaign in all panchayats and villages of each block, and transferring forest lands created by the Forest Department’s plantation program to nearby Gramya Van Committees for community protection and management. He directed that proposals in this regard be sent to the government for effective implementation.
