Mooney, Healy Star as Australia Clinch First Women’s ODI

Brisbane, Feb 26: In the first One-Day International between hosts Australia women’s national cricket team and the India women’s national cricket team, Australia secured a six-wicket victory.

Batting first, India were bowled out for 214 runs in 48.3 overs. In reply, the hosts chased down the target comfortably in 38.2 overs, losing four wickets, thanks to half-centuries from Alyssa Healy and Beth Mooney. Mooney was named Player of the Match.

After winning the toss and opting to bat, India had a disappointing start. Pratika Rawal, playing her comeback match, failed to open her account. Shafali Verma (4) and Jemimah Rodrigues (8) also fell cheaply.

Smriti Mandhana scored a steady 58 runs (7 fours) before getting out after taking the team past 100. All-rounder Deepti Sharma departed early for 2. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur contributed 53 runs, while Richa Ghosh made 23. Kashvee Gautam added a quick 43 (3 fours, 3 sixes), helping India post a total of 214.

For Australia, Ashleigh Gardner took three wickets, while Megan Schutt claimed two.
Chasing 215 for victory, Australia achieved the target with 70 balls to spare, losing four wickets in the process. Healy scored 50 (4 fours) in her final ODI series, Phoebe Litchfield contributed 32, and Mooney anchored the chase with 76 runs, ensuring a comfortable win for the hosts.
